The McGrath Foundation
Off the field, Glenn McGrath has made a profound impact through his work with the McGrath Foundation, a charity he co-founded with his late wife, Jane McGrath, after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Since its inception in 2005 the McGrath Foundation has given its all to people with breast cancer and in doing so, successfully completed its First Mission of placing 250 nurses across Australia by December 2024. In January 2025, the McGrath Foundation announced it is expanding its care to support people experiencing any type of cancer.
The McGrath Foundation funds McGrath Cancer Care Nurses right across Australia and delivers world leading cancer nursing services to support people and their families through cancer.
There are currently 261 McGrath Cancer Care Nurses in communities across the country, who have provided invaluable support to over 150,000 families.
The success of the McGrath Foundation is a testament to Glenn’s dedication and passion, using his platform to effect positive change in the lives of Australians. The iconic Pink Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, which raises millions of dollars each year for the Foundation, is one of the most prominent events in the sporting calendar.
The McGrath Foundation is driven by a singular purpose: to ensure that no one goes through cancer without the care of a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse.
McGrath Cancer Care Nurses are experts in nursing care and their support has a proven impact on the lives of people experiencing cancer and their families. These nurses provide clinical, psychosocial and emotional support to people with any type of cancer throughout their treatment, for free.
This deeply personal cause has grown into a nationwide movement, reaching thousands of people across Australia every year.
Since its inception, the McGrath Foundation has placed 261 McGrath Cancer Care Nurses in communities across Australia, positively impacting the lives of over 150,000 families. These nurses are based in regional, rural, and metropolitan areas, with the long-term goal of ensuring that their support is accessible no matter where someone resides.
The annual Pink Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground has become the Foundation's flagship fundraising event, drawing nationwide attention and raising millions of dollars for the cause. This event transforms the iconic cricket ground into a sea of pink, symbolising unity and hope in the fight against cancer. With a commitment of ensuring no one goes through cancer without the care of a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse, the McGrath Foundation continues to expand its reach, strengthen its impact, and honour the legacy of Jane McGrath.
